When you are customizing your event registration process, one of the areas that you need to review is called registration types. You can use registration types to define how your participants will register for your event. For example, they can register as runners, walkers, adults, children or online fundraisers. For each registration type, you can define the display content, payment options and other registration rules .

Creating Reg Types & Applying Business Rules
To get started, login to the admin console, select your event and go to the "Registrations" section.
- Under the “individual” registration types heading, click the link “Create New Registration Type for Individuals” to create a new registration type.
- If you will only have 1 registration type we recommend updating the content for the "Default Reg Type" to be descriptive of your registration. For example, rename it Individual registration.
Let’s pretend that your charity is holding a walk event and one of the registration types you need to create is “Adult”. For this registration type, you need to apply a registration fee and a waive fee option.
Let’s see what you need to do to create this “Adult” registration type successfully.
- Under the General Heading enter a name for your registration type. This name will only appear in the admin console. Then enter an export ID for your registration type. The export ID is used as a reference for this specific registration type on your reports.
- Under “Display this Registration Type to the following registrants”, make sure checkmarks are checked off next to the participant type that this “Adult” registration option should be available to. If you have a checkmark next to individuals, your participants can participate individually. Team Captains option will allow your participants to create teams and the Team Members option will allow your participants to join existing teams.
- Under Display to Registrant, you can set the content that is displayed to your participants during their registration process.
- Enter a title for the registration type
- Next to Short Description, enter a brief description of this registration type
- Next to “Description: Self Select” enter any additional information about this registration type
- Click next
This will bring you to the business rules section. Here you can add a required self-sponsorship amount, a registration fee, a waive fee option, as well as an early birds discount.
Tips:
- Set up all your locations before you set up registration types
- Keep the registration process as simple as possible
In some cases, there will only be one registration type and in others there may be multiple registration types. The table below shows some examples and what you would need to do to set up that situation.
Step 1 Setting up a Group (Team) Registration Type
Edit the Default Team Type as your first registration type. If you require more, select Create New Registration Type for Groups.
Note: Team types are used to categorize teams. For example, you can set up "Fun Climb" team type and "Endurance Climb" team type to categorize participant teams into two groups.
Result: During the registration process, team captains can choose one of your team types to create a team. If there is only one team type set up, it will not appear to your team captains.
Click Next.
Step 2 Setting up your Business Rules
- choose all business rules you would like to apply to this group registration type
If you are not charging a registration fee, you can choose to apply additional rules to teams that affect their registration status, such as requiring the team to raise a certain amount or to have a minimum number of members:
- If you want registrants to meet all your rules in order to be registered, click either All selected rules. (Teams will need to raise a minimum amount AND have a minimum number of members.)
- If you want registrants to meet at least one of your rules in order to be registered, click either Any selected rule. (Teams will need to raise a minimum amount OR have a minimum number of members.)
Click all options you would like to enable and then select Submit
In the Display column, click the box beside each location where the new registration type will be available.
Click Submit.
At any time you can re-order your registration types:
Creating Corporate Teams
What is a “Corporate Team”? Corporate Teams are "one level" above regular teams, allowing your event to group teams under one umbrella.
The Registrant Experience: Participants registering for an event and creating a team can choose to affiliate themselves with a Corporate Team. Those joining a team will inherit the corporate affiliation chosen by the team captain.
Standard Individual and Team Registration types will not be covered in this article. Click here to watch our video on standard individual and team registration types.
Step 1 Add a Corporate Registration Type
Go to the Registration section of your event and click "Add" under the Corporate Teams heading.
Step 2 Enter team details
Enter the required corporate team information and select which locations the team should be available to.
Tip: Add a default fundraising goal to encourage the team to fundraise.
Search Consent
When the Search Consent checkbox is checked, the Corporate Team will be displayed in the Team Search page. The Corporate Team name will also be displayed in the Affiliation column for any affiliated teams or individuals. When unchecked, Corporate Team will not be visible in the search page.
Enable/Disable a Corporate Team
Admins have the ability to disable a corporate team. It is important to note that when you disable a corporate team any teams and individuals that were previously affiliated with a corporate team will no longer be affiliated with the corporate team.
Step 3 Submit your changes
After creating the corporate team you will be given a link to the public corporate team page. You will also be able to add images in videos to the page
How will this affect After creating a corporate team, team captains will have the option to affiliate their team with corporate teams upon registration.
Note: We also display the corporate team affiliation in the Fundraising Hub. It is easy to change the corporate team affiliation as seen in the screenshot below.
