The convenience fee section allows a merchant to assign convenience fees to each of the payment methods the account has access to.
Fund Model – Consumer or Merchant.
Fund Indicator – This option allows the merchant to choose between charging a fixed convenience fee or charging a percentage of the overall transaction.
Amount/Percentage – This field is where the merchant will indicate how much to charge for the convenience fee.
DBA Name/MID – This option allows a merchant with multiple MIDs to choose to route the convenience fees to a different bank account (MID).
Required – These checkboxes control whether the convenience fee is a mandatory charge or an optional one. The merchant must choose whether to charge all payment methods or none. They will not have the ability to do some but not others. If the required checkboxes are turned off then the optional convenience fee message will appear on the merchant's site.
Optional Convenience Fee Message – This section allows the merchant to write a custom message to their consumers asking if they would be willing to pay an additional fee to help cover processing costs. This message will only appear on the site if all the required checkboxes are turned off.
Note – All convenience fees for credit cards must be the same. The merchant may not charge a different fee for MasterCard than Visa or Amex.
Note – All convenience fees for debit cards must be the same. The merchant may not charge a different fee for MasterCard than Visa.
Note – ACH convenience fee is not dependent on any other payment method and may have a different convenience fee than the other payment methods.
