When processing letters, labels or envelopes, the sorting of the SmartList (or Mailing List) does NOT control the sorting of the mailing. The same goes for the columns that are displayed on the SmartList – they do not have anything to do with the fields that will be displayed on the letter, label or envelope.
Send Mail
When you start the mailing, you will see a Sort option on the “Select options” screen of the mailing process.
Here you can set a Primary Sort and a Secondary Sort to get more consistent sorting. If you only need to sort by Last Name then set both the Primary and Secondary Sort to Last Name.
If you are choosing to Send Letters & Labels or Send Letters and Envelopes, the Sort options you choose on this screen will apply to BOTH the Letter and the Labels / Envelopes, so they will both print in the same order.
Print Labels
